<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Hello, everyone, we have a hiking opportunity that
<STRONG>can't wait for the next newsletter</STRONG>. The Division of
Natural Areas waterfall tour, including three short hikes, will take place
on the first day of spring - March 20. The total attendance is limited to
12 people because the Division of Natural Areas is guiding this tour
to places where parking is extremely limited; they are furnishing
transportation from Nashville in their van. So, if you want to go you need
to sign up <STRONG><EM><U>immediately</U></EM></STRONG> by contacting Roger
McCoy at </FONT><A href="mailto:roger.mccoy@tn.gov"><FONT face=Arial
size=2>roger.mccoy@tn.gov</FONT></A><FONT face=Arial size=2> or calling him
at 615-532-0437. If contacting him by e-mail (recommended, so your e-mail
will be in the queue when he opens them on the next business day), please
include your name, e-mail and phone number in the body of the message,
preferably listing your cell #, so that you can receive a call if there is a
last-minute change of plans due to severe weather. Don't wait!

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><STRONG>Day-of info, Sat., March
20</STRONG>: Plan on meeting at 9 a.m. sharp in the K-mart parking lot on
Donelson Pike (for GPS or Mapquesting purposes, that's 530 Donelson Pike,
Nashville, TN 37214). Plan on bringing lunch/snacks/beverages, the usual
season-appropriate layers and comfortable shoes. Since we'll be near
waterfalls, you'll want shoes with good traction. Don't forget a camera -
we'll be touring some truly scenic places.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2> Several TTA members can personally vouch
for the beauty of Cummins Falls, the largest-magnitude waterfall still in
private ownership in the state of Tennessee. The others on the
tour are Waterloo Falls and Crawford Mill falls, and all three are pretty
close together in Overton and Jackson Counties. If there's time we'll get
to take in Wash Morgan Hollow State Natural Area, along the Roaring River State
Scenic River, which is a treasure in its own right. Check out

UT prof. Dr. Tom Dunigan has a great directory that includes Tennessee

picking hiking destinations . . . See on you
